…find beauty in little things. choose joy in hard things. discover you along the way…

About

Unruly. Joy-filled. Me.

Yup, that’s me in a nutshell. I’m a solo parent of two who’s finding her way in a world that seems bent on dictating  when I can or cannot move, when I should or should not dream, or when I will or will not assuage the whispers of fear, doubt or anxiety that bite at my ears.

I am an over-comer whose passion centers on helping you find the beauty in the little things, choose joy in the hard things and make a few waves–heck make lots of noise–along the way. If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing. If you can think, you can dream. You are the best you around, so why not enjoying being the precious gift that you are?

Like you, I wear many hats: Founder/Consultant Write Now Communications, Life Bliss Editor (Blissfully Domestic Magazine), writer, blogger, free-lancer, mother, poet, author, spoken word artist, wanna be dancer (yeah, I’m still working on this one), beauty product reviewer (my absolute fave), wordsmith, book nerd (LOVE my NOOK!), edifier, and a wee bit on the untamed side of things!

You’ll find me to be refreshingly transparent, surprisingly honest, ridiculously down to earth and quite the introvert (yeah, keep that on the low). I believe that words shape destinies, love never fails, and true faith causes you to live out your convictions in the face of all opposition. I love God, not just in words but in deed and therefore that means I love people…even the ones who piss me off or who intentionally seek to offend or hurt me. It’s easy to love the people who love you. Loving the person who holds the knife in your back as they smile in your face, well now that takes a bit of chutzpah, no?

I laugh. A lot. Even at things that no one else finds funny. Like these Chris Christmas Rodriguez videos. Did you see him kick Grandma off her chair?!! HILARIOUS!!

Love. LOVE. L0V3 my teens aka (also known as) my treasures aka Dynamic Duo aka Wonder Twins aka boy and girl. Children are a gift. I remember the days when they felt more like a ball and chain around my neck. I’m happy to report those days are long gone!! Psst, I share all about how I got passed it.

You should know I’m having a love affair with designer stilettos and all things related to beauty products, fashion and hair. Oh and I founded Pinky’s Circle, a tween girl empowerment group which I will definitely talk more about in the coming months.
Don’t be fooled by all the hats. At my core, I’m frighteningly domestic: I love to cook, bake and do all the girly things that Scott Miller Salon & Spa created just for me–and the rest of you too.
If you’re a parent (male or female), woman, or beauty product enthusiast then this blog is for you. If you enjoy a good belly laugh, like a little no non-sense in your life and can appreciate the Jimmy Choos of the world, then this is definitely the blog for you. If you want to know how to discover joy or the power to dream then welcome, I’m glad you’re here.
FYI, I partner with various brands like Sleep Number, Crest, Eucerin, Stri-Vectin and Dove on occasion so be on the lookout for giveaways and posts in the months to come. Hey, we all have to make a living right?
Now, you have a peek into my world. I’d love a glance into yours. Let’s do this shall we?

  1. Hi! I found your blog thru Blissfully Domestic and thought you looked like a really cool person. The more I read your blog, the more I’m convinced that I have an accurate perception! We have a couple things in common. First, I’m a Christian (though I don’t say that everywhere I go given the bad rap we have!). I’m a mom of a 1 yr old son and I’m a contributor for the Blissful Pets section of BD. Anyway, nice to meet you! If you get bored sometime, I just started a blog, hop on over and say “hi”. It’s mommypixels.wordpress.com. Warm fuzzies! Lana Parks

    • Hi Lana!!

I’m glad to meet you!! And I know what you mean about the bad rap, but the way I see it, if enough people out there, were introduced to real Christians, then everyone would be better for it!

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll be visiting your blog real soon.

      Selena

  2. Hello Ms. Cochran,

I was delighted to see this website and it’s very professional looking layout!

It just came to my attention last night that when our loving Heavenly Father created Adam, he immediately breathed into him poetry.

When Adam is first recorded as speaking, the very first words of ANY human being recorded in the Bible, were poetry in the original language — Adam’s little poem about his wife, Chav’vah (a.k.a “Eve”). Genesis 2:23

We are thus the children of a poet, and of a God who loves beauty and justice. Sometimes to believe in Him actually IS to believe in ourselves through poetry as well. The Bible shows us that what you are doing is what God had in mind “back in the day”.

As they say around Shema, “Guten Shabbos!” as of tonight :-)

    • Hi there! Leave it to you to bring a little Hebrew to my blog! LOL, thanks for visiting, feel free to stop by ANY time!

  3. Yes you are. We need more woman like you. The woman that you are will bring about greatness in others.

    Peace, love and poetry.
