StriVectin Power to Change and a $30K Giveaway

StriVectin Power to Change – Do YOU Love the Skin You’re In?

The power to change. Four words that can alter the course of any destiny, dream or circumstance. Four words that often times mean the difference between a purpose fulfilled and a passion debunked. Hope. Joy. Destiny. They are the end results of having the courage to stop, refocus and move forward.  They epitomize the soul’s quest to liken itself to something greater than itself–to see beyond the scope of its present circumstance and call forth a better future.

To change oneself or the things we don’t typically like about ourselves requires honesty, transparency or a bit of humor. For me it required all three. You all know how much I rave about being a StriVectin gal. I’ve joked about it on video, talked about it on Twitter, raved about it on Facebook and openly talk about it with anyone who asks me about my skin. Why? Because they pay you? Don’t I wish! No, because I cannot ever remember feeling this good about my skin, especially my face. I take pictures without makeup!  I wear less foundation and concealer now than I have in the last 5 years. And I’m proud that 90% of the people I meet, and know, typically think I’m about 15-20 years younger than my real age. Although, looking younger is not so much fun when you’re trying to buy wine and they think you’ve borrowed your sister’s I.D. and request that you call your parent, but that’s another post entirely.

When one area in our life changes for the better, the ripple effect is inevitable. Confidence comes alive. Beauty, ingenuity and warmth take center stage as life seems to harmonize with the chords of our new found growth. We dream bigger. We live on purpose. We live with purpose. This is kind of what this challenge is all about. Having the power to change what you can, to live the kind of life you really want, to impact the lives of others along the way. Each one, reach one to teach one.

If you had $30,000 what would you change for the better? Whose life would you impact?

I know 8 outstanding, highly creative youth who want to go to Haiti to help rebuild a broken country and learn the meaning of service. $30,000 sounds like a great investment, don’t you think?

Psst. Don’t forget about their free trial offer: $35 worth of product and you pay $6.50 shipping + handling. Um, yes please.

What Is Your Heart Thirsting For?

Is it the melody your soul sings when no one’s looking or around?

Is it the cleansing air you gasp to breathe when stifling vapors leave you bound?

Is it joy, peace or inherent exploits of strength or security?

Is it hope eternal, love immortal, a cry of the heart is what exactly?

Is it the final question whimpered in dire fits of disparity and anguish?

Is it the healing answer whispered in the eye of the storm’s turbulent midst?

Is it splendidly fashioned of tears and smiles, or pain and great reprieve?

Or is it birthed of silent cries, unspoken thoughts and confessions un-decreed?

hearts1I remember the day I wrote this poem.  There was so much going on in my life, much of it good. To the average person, I appeared to be on top of my game; blazing the path to prosperity and happiness. Everything was going in my favor; but I was distressed. I read books, prayed; I even exercised. I felt better, for a time; but the ache inside me only grew until it overflowed into an outpouring of tears. Yes, tears. Slowly but surely, I released the false expectations I placed on myself, the unrealistic expectations others placed on me, and the notion that I could, even for a moment, orchestrate my own life without guidance. See, my heart was crying out for a sustenance that I couldn’t give myself; a peace and a stillness that could only come through divine connection. In my quest to get all that destiny said I could have, I was suffocating my inner self. You know, a balloon isn’t a balloon until someone breathes into it? Until someone else’s lifebreath defines what it is?

That was me. On the outside, I looked like a balloon, but on the inside I was void of breath and life.

I don’t know how many tears I shed but when it was all said and done and my confessions spoken, the ache inside me was gone. So, what am I saying?

A cry of the heart speaks of the souls implicit truths. It testifies to our need for the divine breath of the Holy One to be whispered into the inner places of our soul.

So, the next time you find yourself internally aching, starving or merely, unbalanced, reconnect to the Life Giver–your mind, your will and your emotions will thank you for it.

New. You. Now.

new-years-imageYou’ve sang the song, drank the champagne, laid out your resolutions for 2009 and you’re psyched. You’re ready to climb any mountain, slay any obstacle, meet any challenge; there’s no doubt about it: you’re out for blood. Hurrah! It’s game time baby!!

And then something begins to happen. A month goes by, then four and once again, you’re left with an exhausting list of do’s and not enough done’s.   Before you know it, you’re right where you were last year: doing the same thing, expecting different results. ENOUGH!

Making a list of goals and objectives is great; but understand this: it’s impossible to change your actions without changing the person who makes those actions. There has to be an inner change before an outer change can occur. What you need is a NEW. YOU. NOW.

How does that work? Ask yourself these questions:

·          If failure wasn’t an option and money, not an issue, what would you dare to do?

·          When was the last time you were so excited about your life, job, home, etc., that you couldn’t wait to get up in the morning?

·          Are you taking steps to live your dreams or are you merely dreaming about them?

·          When was the last time you made an investment in yourself?

And this, my friend, is just the beginning. The end goal is to get you to spend time getting to know the REAL you and what makes you tick.

For years, I was unsatisfied with my life but I was resolved to accept it as it was and leave it at that.  But once I started asking myself these questions, I discovered things that surprised me, like: the things that really drive me are teaching, writing (poetry and fiction) and empowering women. Can you imagine? The loner girl (that’s me) who’s too shy to speak up and too withdrawn to speak out, wanting to teach? I stayed in the finance field because it was safe. I was in my comfort zone which consisted of me, my desk and millions of numbers; and it was good—it WAS good.

But once I took time to know me and my passions, I took steps to strengthen me in the areas where I was weakest. I took a self-esteem class through my church (New Life Fellowship), attended seminars, read books and then I made out my list and goals for the future–long term and short. And let me tell you, I started noticing more done’s than do’s in no time!

I look back over the last five years and I can honestly say I’m glad I took the time to find out who I was.  And so can you.  2009 is the time to discover a new, you, now.

Blessings,

Selena
